“Access to Justice and the Challenge of COVID 19”

International Legal Aid Group Conference

Sydney, Australia: 22-24 June 2021

Dear Colleagues

As many of you know, I hope, the next International Legal Aid Group conference will be held in Sydney, Australia, delivered remotely and co-hosted by Legal Aid New South Wales.  As in the past this is a working congress which entails that an upper limit of 110 or so attendees will be applied. This year we have had to introduce parallel sessions because of the time constraints imposed by delivering the conference globally but remotely. This means that each day the programme can only run for around 3 hours.  Start time 0700 UK; 1600 NSW time

The conference will be discussing a wide range of contemporary issues e.g. Access and indigenous persons; Artificial Intelligence and legal aid; Digital exclusion and digital access;  Improving access to justice for young persons; New horizons for Criminal justice; Holistic or particularistic services; Quality assurance or quality enhancement – the way of the future; What Access to Justice will look like after COVID 19.

This year Evenbrite will be handling registration for ILAG. There is a registration fee of £70-00. If you would like an invitation to the conference or to discuss the possibility of a discount, please contact the Chair of ILAG  Professor Alan Paterson ( This email address is being protected from spambots. Once registered Eventbrite will send you a ticket to attend the conference and two days before the conference begins, they will send you a zoom link for the conference. Any questions relating to the conference or the fee should be directed to Ms Eileen Ritchie the conference administrator  at This email address is being protected from spambots. With best wishes

Yours sincerely,
